Totally forgot about this…
So sorry…
But here comes some notes of how I made it…
it’s an easy one so a lot of instructions won’t be needed!!! čśë

When designing this quilt in my head I just had a thought of how it would look..
and since I let my loved Scandibee members do the job and sew the blocks for me…
I let them decide… And I had no control.. čśë

The quilt has 5 x 7 blocks..that makes 35 in all…
It gave me the size I wanted on the quilt…
but please make it your own and make it the size that suites you…

Each block is 12 1/2″

I assigned my Scandibee members to make one coloured block
in their favourite colour and one low volume block…

My first made up blocks…
One coloured and one low volume
Just sew different width of strips together to create a 12 1/2 x 12 1/2″ block…
One thing to think of is …don’t use the smallest strips at the top and at the bottom of the square…
This gives room for cutting down to the right size if needed…

I put my ruler on top of my block to visualise the next strip, think it made it easier to cut the next strip.
(Because I always measure wrong…)
Use scraps or not… čśë sew and make blocks…
You will need 18 coloured blocks and 17 low volumes blocks… (Or the opposite… 35 in all)
square them up to 12 1/2 x 12 1/2″

Think there can be many ways to use these blocks..mine is just one way
…maybe you will figure out another way..

I decided on cutting mine in different sizes…

First strip 3 1/2″
Second strip 3″
Third strip 2 1/2″
Fourth strip 2″
Fifth strip 1 1/2″

And now for the fun part…the lay out…
I wanted to keep mine in colour…
so I just mixed my green (for example) blocks
with each other so it would get a scrappy look…
And did the same with all the low volume blocks…
How to make block one, lay out
One coloured 3 1/2″ strip, one 3″ low volume strip, one 2 1/2″ coloured strip,
one 2″ low volume strip and one 1 1/2″ coloured strip.
Sew strips together to build a block…
Size 10 x 12 1/2″

Make block two :
One low volume 3 1/2″ strip, one 3″ coloured strip, one 2 1/2″ low volume strip,
one 2″ coloured strip and one 1 1/2″ low volume strip.
Sew together …size 10 x 12 1/2″
Now sew the blocks together…
Block one, block two, block one, block two and block one into rows
Start next row with block two…and so on…

Make rows and sew them together…

My quilt still needed a little bit of extra width so I added a low volume scrappy strip
to one side… Think it was about 4″ wide…;)

Hope this makes sense…am a little bit tired today…Shout out if I’m too unclear!

It was such a fun quilt to make..and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do…I now have a wonderful friendship quilt that I will treasure for years…it’s already well used!!
Still need to do that label though… čśë

Good luck…

See you

This day I hadn’t something in mind
Oh yes I had…just kidding…;0)
But don’t know what happened…it didn’t turn out as I had planned!!!
In a quite crazy mood…
I went to attack at my fabrics..
Had JUST DO IT…in my mind all the time…
Don’t think..
Just do it!!
I picked fabrics that spoke to me…
not thinking if they were going to suit the owner…
I just cut up strips and happily sewed away…
and all of a sudden it was born a crazy
and busy “thing”
made during a creative attack…
Now it’s on a journey with a destination
So Shirley…put on your sunglasses at Christmas Day!! ;0)
After some frenetic searching in my cupboards..
I found my next targets…
