I have always wanted to make the Carry All pincushion
it is a pattern by Anna Graham from the blog Noodlehead..
And can be found in her book Handmade Style…which is a great book…
lots to make in that one! More Future projects… čśë
So when a secret pincushion swap was decided in Scandibee for Christmas
I decided to make it for my partner…
I absolutely LOVE how it turned out…
A clever one with pockets to fill with what you need!
I even was very tempted to keep it myself and sew her another…
but decide to send it … because it was made with her in mind.
Our Admin of the group…Ruth was my partner…
Can make another one…can’t I? čśë

Welcome to my first post in 2016!!!
A new sewing year…happy happy for that!
Wonder what will be sewn this year…

Have a numerous of tops that needs to be quilted…
Sigh! čśë

Last year I started the Scandibee…
that was fun…you can see that quilt here

This year my month is February…
so this is the block I have chosen for my Scandibee friends
if they accept my block..hope so.

“Improve Half Log Cabin Block”

Not so much of improve but a little čśë … it is like sewing without a plan around a corner square
adding interest on the way around until block is built.

Start with a corner square add strips in various widths to two of the sides…
Trim block after added strips, this way it will stay neat…
I approached this block a little bit different with adding little bits of green highlight pieces…

I just laid the strip beside the already sewn block and put the green piece on top to decide
where I wanted it to be… I cut the strip and sewed the green piece in place…
and sewed it to the block, continuing this way until I almost had the desired size…
To decide what width the last strip should measure I just laid my ruler on top
and added 1/2″ in seam allowance…
Its much more fun sewing like this than planning the block completely from start to end…why…
because I always sew wrong..and not to mention cut wrong… čśë
I made four blocks to test the pattern…
Needed to see how the different sizes of corner squares would look in the layout I had in mind and if the strips were the right widths…or enough rounds.
This is how they look together…
Either side by side…
Or turned to each other…will see how what layout it will be in the end…
might not be like this..depends on what kind of blocks I will receive from my Scandibee friends…
Can't wait to get my blocks so I can play with the layout… :)

November…
Not my favourite month
It's getting colder and darker…and to top that …snow…
A little is just fine to keep it lighter… But not a metre of snow please…

Do try to find beauty in nature at my walks with Molly and am happy to find it…
This is my thinking spot…
First ice and snow…
It's something special about sunsets… :)

On the sewing front it have been full focus on the Scandibee blocks…

This month it was my friend Maricas turn to be Queen Bee…
and she chose a lovely block made from a tutorial by Clover & Violet…

Loved that she have used low volumes with black and grey stars…
think this quilt will be fantastic!

Yesterday I finished the pincushion that is a part of the
Secret Christmas Swap in Scandibee this year
But more on that later… :)
