Started 2008 and finished 2014…
Sometimes it takes a long time to have a finish…
but for some reason I think this quilt was meant to be finished
this year and for a special purpose

You see this quilt is now not in my belongings …
it now has a new owner…

A friend that have come to mean a great deal to me…
we have shared so much in these years we have learnt to know each other…
and to finally meet her now when going to Birmingham…
that was a special moment…and to have a quilt with me…that filled me with joy!
And of course I am talking about Shirley

And after having met her…
I know we will share lots more these coming years…
So nice to have good friends both near and far
and knowing distance isn’t all…and with Shirley …
she’s just an email away!! :)

Pattern designer of this Quilt is Rosalie Quinlan
And it was such a joy to applique
And it sure was quicker to get together than I thought…
and what was fun …
is that I discovered how much I really enjoy the hand sewing part…
I thought it was lost forever…
not being able to do this again with my aching fingers and all that have bothered me…
I still can do it…and that fills me with so much JOY!!

Think this quilt have given both of us joy…
my newly discoveries and for Shirley the fruit of it!!

Thankyou Shirley for becoming my friend …
for all the emails and all the support during my recovery …
it means the world to me…
And sure have given me the Joy of life back!!

Summer summer
oh my I think I have lived closed to the Mediterranean Sea
instead of the Piteå river
have had high temps nearly three weeks…
over 25 C and since last week over 30 C
and this is very unusual up here in the north…
Today it changed…cloudier and with thunder and lightning rolling in…

So in this heat wave I have quilted…
and it have been a tough job…
no air conditions here and up in my sewing room temps have been HIGH!!!
But on the good note…it was good…
because I would probably have sat too long and my shoulders and neck would have been dead!

Ok quilting

I have had big time problems with free motion quilting the last years…
First on my PFAFF 2042… It went ok in the beginning ..
but with age something must have happened to that lovely machine…
So I did buy a Janome Horizon…and it all went well again with the free motion quilting…
but then I got sick and didn't sew…and for some reason I just couldn't sew on my Janome…
It was in my head…

So what did I do…I sold my Janome last year…
and now I bought myself a new machine…
this time a PFAFF 4.2
since I have always loved that brand…
And I have been getting back to my sewing again…and like it! :)

Not to say I have been without problems with the machine…
Of course I have had…my luck…sigh…so it have been two times to the doctor already…

First time…well it couldn't be quilted on…
you know skipped stitches and thread breakage …
and problem with the threadcutter…so I got depressed…almost tore my hair off…
Got it back…and well was it fixed …or was it fixed…
not the threadcutter…it was even worse than before….so I sent it back to service again…

And see..oh yes it was the thread cutter engine that was not working as it should…
so now it's new and working and adjustments have been made to the hight of the needle…

And there was some other problems that I discovered when getting my machine back
…and phoned to the service place and got the worst ever answers…
totally lack of interest from their side…but I called my dealer…
and he is the best…so now hopefully it is all solved …and we all are happy!! 😉

So back to quilting…

This it what I have decided…
This year I will keep records on all my settings for my machine
and try to learn my machine and decided that I will master free hand quilting…I won't quit !!!!!

So this will be an all PFAFF thing…there aren't so much written about this on the internet…
but I have found Karin at The Quilt Yarn
and she is a PFAFF 4.2 owner and quilts beautifully…
and she have incouraged me to quilt again…
I love my machine…and of course it can be quilted on… :)

You who follow me on Instagram knows I have been appliqueing by hand
this spring and summer on a quilt started on 2008.. Oh my… Shame here…

But I have always loved to either do embroidery or other things with my hands…
but when I got sick..my hands wouldn't allow me to do this…
So I put that out of my mind…but this spring I gave it a go…
and YES yes… I can again…do you think I'm happy or what!
So a new world have opened up to me again!!

All of a sudden all nine blocks were done…and in no time I thought…it was quick…
I have loved my mornings with hand appliqueing … :)

So to keep up the pace …I decided to get this quilt finished…
And machine quilted… Oh my…what a goal I just sat…but I had no fear!
Hand quilting was never a solution…that my hands will never manage!

Hmmmm… This became a long post…
Think we take the machine quilting in another one… Sorry!!! :)

So hope you enjoyed the sneak peeks of the blocks instead… 😉

So see you…

Oh… On another note…. Just two weeks until BIRMINGHAM ….:) :) :)
