Fettisdag…today…
at least here in Sweden…maybe all around Scandinavia…
It is the day we eat “Semla”

Read more about it here

Ate my first today..and I think that one is the best of them all!!

Otherwise here at my little spot on earth..
we have very mild weather..am not complaining a bit!!!
Snow comes and goes…don't think that we ever have had this little snow...
Just a thin layer…with mostly ice under…
River is getting more open in the middle..
and I still haven't been out walking on the ice..
like I use to in March…strange weather!

In my sewing room..
it have been mostly about washing and ironing
but have managed to start up something new
…very slow progress …

See you!!

I got thumbs up from my daughter Petra and Jimmy

Have worked on a big big secret since New Year…

when they engaged a LOOOONG time ago, when I still sewed… :)
I promised them a quilt for their bed….
They wanted a quilt in black…and I just couldn't sew in black…

I just couldn't… But I started to collect fabrics…and patterns…
but nothing talked to me…
Suddenly…I changed plan..bought new fabrics..
and found the right pattern…and voila… :)
Now I can …yes I can sew in black…
( you all know I'm a pastel girl :)
And I didn't mind at all..I even had fun…
and I do love this quilt!!

Today I finished THE quilt…and I have delivered it…
IN TIME FOR VALENTINES DAY:)

and they were both very happy for it…
So I am sooo relieved…
You know how it is to sew for children that are very clear in their interior taste…

Now I can show it!!

It have been fully tested and approved by
quilt tester Molly!! :)

I have used a pattern from Cherri House Quilts
I loved sewing it…it went together superb…

Used black, medium grey and light grey solids…
and added some newsprint fabrics and other modern prints…
and for interest I added some turquoise fabrics…

Quilting …wanted to keep it simple so I just quilted straight lines
…but I used three different grey threads…
and that was a success …loved the look!

Quilting such a big quilt is a struggle,
even with straight line quilting…
I had divided the quilt in thirds
happy I did…was much easier!

Daughter wanted a quilt that was pretty
on the back as well so I designed a striped backside…
A challenge to keep it straight and to quilt it straight…
but I think I managed pretty well… :

Finished with a black and white striped fabric for binding…
Gave the quilt a modern and fresh look!

Best of all is …
That they loved it… :0)

Now I can plan something new…;)

Oh my goodness….I sure wasn't prepared for the cold that came…having such a mild winter around zero…and suddenly hitting -32C (-25F)… Brrrrr….
It sure went through my bones!!!

Even Molly had trouble jumping on three legs sometimes….
But one thing for sure..when it's cold …it's pretty:)
Love the colours

In my sewing room sewing is done… I am acting!! :)

The Sew Along is in it's fourth week…and joining the blocks to something is this weeks assignment …
So I am fiddling along with my WIP… Maybe you remember the block I made from Cheri Saffiotes blog…way back in time… That one was my target … wanted to add to that one..and thought the log cabin blocks would be nice for that…
Still haven't decided on what to really make with everything…guess I will sew along!! :)

Secret sewing has also been on my to do list…and I am making progress…and can soon cross this from my list! Will show soon!!

See you…
remember… Keep warm!!! :)
