Fun fun fun!!
Think I liven up when it comes to sew for others…
It’s something special…
In progress
This time we Marica, Louise and I decided to sew a Quilt to Krista Hennebury
as a thankyou for coming to the North of Sweden…
and dare to stay with us in a cabin by the Pite Älv (Pite River)…
Louise’s specialty… Scrappy …no waste!
And since Krista sewed some blocks for me to use in my plus friends quilt…
Of course she needed one for herself..but a mini one…
And Marica being the “black sheep” sewing an odd block… 😉 think it’s brilliant…
So I sewed up a block to test and loved it …
Knew it would look perfect!!
We sewed ten blocks each
and I signed up to finished the quilt…
I even found a little poppy print to add as her blog is called
Poppyprintcreates…
All I can say is that this was very fun to make…
Will make a little tutorial for this one soon…
so stay tuned!!
Thought a long time on how to quilt it, but one morning it came to me …
that I needed to quilt the river as a memory for our cabin stay…
so I kind of planned the river…
laid out some threads just to see if it would work…
and yes… It worked!
Eyeballed my “river” and sewed…
Worked fine…but when sewing on the bias like this…
beware of stretching the quilt…
I got one wobbly side…just a little…
but that could be fixed with a little thread run in the seam allowance…
And also I also pinned the quilt to my design wall when a little damp after wash…
Continued the quilting with straight stitching…
Added a black and white binding to the quilt…
Must say I love this little quilt, think I need to make myself one too..
i think we did pretty good , don’t you think?
Sewing with friends are so much fun..
Now to to finish the large plus friends quilt… ;0)
Here you can see the river floating…
Now we were ready for Kristas arrival!
Gifts, the cabin, the food
A loooong wait but finally time had come…

This day no Festival of Quilts…

I had one mission…to find a t-shirt for son with the English flag on…
and that seemed to be nearly impossible!!

We just had a nice day walking around in Birmingham…

Trying to find that t-shirt, eating my first fish and chips and looking at owls…

The big hoot owls… Made by artists to raise money for children's hospital
There were at least a hundred of them… I just saw three…

At evening we ended up in the bar with some more Swedish quilters…and Shirley… 😉
