Well hello everyone….
I seem to take mini breaks from the blog now and then…
but now I’m back for some quilty news…
I couldn’t resist this pattern

Picture borrowed from Two little Aussie Birds

And called The Modern Medallion
Thought it was both fun and with different techniques…
and not TOO big…maybe manageable for me …
And better up …they are having a Quilt Along on this one…
starting today!!!
Perfect for me..might stay on track and hopefully don’t get to stressed if I’m getting behind!!
So first up choose fabrics!!!
Debate…debate…monologue….
( have to talk to someone…don’t I…husbands aren’t that supportive sometimes…. 😉
and hmmm…and hmmm…
For this one I had such a clear view on what fabrics to chose…
Low volume of course…some greens, pinks and aquas…and some more colours…
But as I said I have debated with myself a lot…
and suddenly it was all clear…
Nope…I’m going to make this my own version
a more summer version…and I have THESE fabrics in mind…
My little stash of vintage fabrics
I know…there won’t be so much contrast…
but I kind of like that…and you have to try…
It can be just wonderful …or…
What could be the worst thing to happen… Start over… 😉
So what do you think..have I gone totalt crazy with My idea…
A Modern Vintage Medallion Quilt..
So how to start up a project like this…
Number one…Always clear up The sewing room…Can’t sew in mess!!
Number two…Always tidy up the machine…I like a happy machine… :)
Number three…Always a new needle!!
Number four…hmm what could that be… sew!!! :)
Number five…snacks…hey wait…I quit that… 😉
Number sixchocolat… Dark…yes…if it should be needed… Might sew wrong!!
Number seven… Most important…Have FUN!!
So wish me luck…
See you!!

A quilters question…and a very often asked one… 😉

Well I do wash
and I don't think I could think of not doing it…
I do it because I like it..
Crazy I know…but it's like therapy…
colour therapy…almost like sewing but not…lol…

I do it because I love to use washed fabrics, and an unwashed batting
Love the crinkly outcome of that!
Gives a loving texture and structure to the quilt…

I do it because …I don't like colour surprises when washed…
A friend of mine had a real “close to death” experience when taking a quilt out of the washer…
Ohhh.. That was horrible!!!

And I DO it… Mostly because of I'm allergic to lots of stuff
And just the thought of not being able to USE fabrics in my future…HORROR…
That is why I wash!! :)

So… How do I do it
This is the Stina way!!

Load the washer with a happy amount of fabrics … 😉
(Wash similar colours) just enough what you can iron that day!!
If there is Suspicious fabrics…
or very colourful ones…throw in colour catchers!! Works like magic!!
Use softener… So much easier to iron the fabrics later!
I wash with a fast programme…with high spin!
Or sometimes…
I throw them in the sink with hot water and spin later in the washing machine!

Wait for the machine to finish!! Take a cup of tea! :)

Take out the tangled but oh so lovely fabrics…
Sigh…just a little… 😉

Start to untangle that mess… Fold the fabrics nicely…

Trim the beard off… :)

Stack them in a plastic bag…

Close the bag…
Let them lie in there for a while…
This rest does wonders with wrinkles!!
Up to a couple of hours is ok…so another teacup is ok!!!
Or maybe some sewing… :)
But beware here…
I have had a text print to transfer on a another fabric…
Huh… Not good…but happily it went away with another wash!!
So I don't put suspicious fabrics on top of another!!

Now time for some ironing..
with a hot iron
and such satisfaction to see all those wrinkles disappear
…and it all smells heavenly… :)

Fold them like you want to…
and step back and look at all the wonderful loveliness!!

So..
That's why I wash
Do you wash???

See you!!
